Water restrictions took effect June 1st, 2015 for Metro Vancouver due to a below average snow pack and dry Spring and will continue to September 30th 2015.
These restrictions are known as Stage 1 of 4 and depending on the weather this Summer the restrictions might become harsher. A $250 fine may result if you are caught sprinkling on a day you shouldn't be; however, most municipalities make exceptions for new lawn and garden installations if you have your permit displayed. For more established lawns certain steps can be taken to ensure that your lawn doesn't go brown on less water such as leaving your grass slightly longer when mowing the lawn.
